WOW – as I sit here writing this post, I have tears in my eyes. (* Note: this was my 2nd blog post)
As I reflect back over the last couple days all I can say – is – WOW (again) I’m overwhelmed!
The love and support you’ve shown me as you’ve commented, shared and encouraged has been nothing short of amazing. I am thankful and grateful beyond words. #feelingblessed
I guess that’s why I’m feeling a little nostalgic tonight, so join me on a journey as you think about your very first memory.
Where were you? What were you doing?
For most people that first memory is tied to “home” in one way or another. It either happened at your home or the home of someone you love.
For me – my earliest memories start when I was 3 years old.
My family had moved across the country from North Carolina to Washington state to live near my dad’s youngest brother.
I can’t imagine what would cause a Dad to move his young family – my Mom (who was expecting) my brother and me that far on a bus (yes, you read that correctly – a Greyhound bus) unless its desperation for a fresh start.
However, it is here that my first memories were made. I remember standing in a chair at the kitchen sink and looking out over a big field of strawberries. I remember my first Christmas here. I remember being happy.
It’s amazing to me that I can recall what the actual rooms looked like. (because, trust me…that was a ‘few’ years back)
What are your first memories? Maybe they aren’t happy ones but they’re still there – forever impressed upon your mind.
Now, fast forward to today….What kind of memories are you creating for your family.
That’s why I’m here.
That’s why I started this blog. To help you create great memories for your kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews or maybe just the neighbor kid down the block or across the hall.
I want to help you create a home that is warm, welcoming and inviting. A space where you feel like you can get away from the cares of the world and relax — a Haven.
If your home is filled with clutter, tension and chaos then it feels like anything but a haven.
For over 20 years I have been helping busy, overwhelmed moms create systems and habits that change their lives for the better and now I want to help you.
Yes, it’s possible to get rid of the overwhelm – get the laundry done – and still carve out time to create beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.
Life gets messy sometime and that’s OK.
My passion is to inspire and motivate you to change the things in your life that aren’t working and embrace the things are!
Your home can feel like a haven regardless of budget, talent or “perceived” lack thereof!
Turning your home into a sanctuary is not only possible it’s a must in the crazy world we live in. Your kids (and family) face enough uncertainty already – when they come home you want them to feel like they are…. home.
I see a lot of people living in – IF ONLY Land – hey, I’m not criticizing, I confess to visiting there way too often myself – but the key is to not get ‘stuck there.’
This is what ‘if only’ land looks like —
If Only…
- I could decorate like (you feel in the blank)
- I had money to
- I had more time — I simply don’t have time to get organized!
- I had “the gift” of organization then, getting organized wouldn’t be such a struggle!
- I was younger — or — older
Sound familiar? Well when that happens, I’m here to help you refocus your attention back to the things you can change rather than the things you can’t (and I’m counting on you to help me do the same–Deal???)
Listen…you – and your sweet family – deserve no less.
You Are Worth It. You Can Do This!
Remember, you’re making memories anyway so why not make good ones!!
What are you going to do today to shower someone you love (even if it’s yourself) with a little extra attention so that they (you) know how special they (you) are?
I would LOVE it if you’d SHARE in the comment section below.
Hey..I just saw on Facebook (today) where a friends 93 year old grandmother went parasailing — If she can do that, you can do this — Right????
